Nail hardener on aluminum?

I was wondering if the stuff that you use to make finger nails harder/protect them would ruin aluminum?

On my bike, the part that holds the handlebars in place is made of aluminum. I wanted to put a sticker on it, and then put the nail hardener on it so it does not come off.

It won't ruin the aluminum, but it probably won't actually protect anything. Depending on what type of nail hardener you use -- some are just clear polish, others contain vitamins or proteins that interact with your nails.

You should always try something like that first in an out of the way place -- like on the underside in a small spot to see if it sticks, peels, or discolors before going all gung ho.

You might want to look at clear coat touch up paint at your local automotive store. Probably comes in a spray can or small brush bottle. You might also be able to use polyurethane which you can find at a hardware store.
