NailTek is great. You can buy it at this website:

www.nailtek.com

I've personally used it for years after taking off artificial nails (if you've ever done it, you know that after that, your nails are as weak as they'll ever be!) After about a week or two, your nail is in GREAT shape again.
I work at a restaurant and end up washing dishes quite a bit so I know what its like to have weak finger nails. When I start to notice mine getting really bad, I drink milk like 4 times a day for a few days, and they really start to look better.

  • Why cant hardener for horses hooves work on guitarist's nails?

I have been using Tuff Stuff, hoof medicine on my nails daily for over a month now, with some success and no ill effects. I want to switch to a Keratin based product that penetrates the hoof and strengthens the entire body of the hoof itself. Not just surface only. The company says for horses only, but so do the, Tuff Stuff, people. What gives? I desperately need stronger fingernails, and Salon folks say there is no such thing. Let me hear from some one who knows this stuff.

As far as horses hooves go, there is an old cowboy saying, '; One white foot and a white nose, buy him. two white feet and a white nose, try him. three white feet and a white nose, cut off his head and feed him to the crows....Weak hooves! I am an old cowboy, and the way my nails are, I must be crow bait! Why cant hardener for horses hooves work on guitarist's nails?
they sell nail hardener for humans at the pharmacy.

my mom used to mix a powder in water that she got at the Px.

Tho I cannot remember the name. Why cant hardener for horses hooves work on guitarist's nails?
My sister-in-law uses horse conditioner on her hair and cow bag balm to soften her skin so I don't see why you can't use the keratin product on your nails if you use it externally only.

My family has a store that sells animal products. The reason a lot of manufacturers say ';for animal use only'; is because it's extremely costly to get FDA approval for human use. It also carries MUCH higher liability to market products for human use.
Most hoof and nail hardeners have formaldehyde in them which causes microcracks in the hoof/nail over time so you end up worse off than when you started.
I know hooflex works...when i used it regularly on my horses my nails grew hard and strong from being in contact with it often
I think Knox Gelatine Powder in the orange box is what a previous answer was referring to. They say its made from animal hooves. This is my own recent discovery: Hummus! Just this week I noticed how great my nails look. They are always a mess. Now they are strong, not dry or peeling. The only thing it could possibly be is the hummus I've been eating about 5 days per week. I eat it with a pita. There has been no other change in my diet, medication and I don,t take vitamins. So give it a try. It's a healthy snack. Sally Hansen nail products are good too. When I used to stock shelves, their polish was the only way I could grow nails. They have a variety of products besides polish. Pregnancy vitamins give you great nails %26amp; there is nothing in them that would hurt a man.

    Proteins in nail hardeners?

You know how a lot of nail hardener products have silk proteins, soy proteins, etc., in them that are supposed to strengthen your nails? I've been wondering about that. So you apply a mixture of organics (organic as in chemistry, not organic as in hippy) including some dissolved proteins to your nails...are they supposed to

    a) just increase the strength of the nail polish coating or

    b) become adsorbed to the nail keratin and increase the strength of the nail itself, i.e. nail stays thicker even after you remove the polish?

I'm a nailbiter and _not_ a biochemist...can anyone explain to me whether these products are snake oil or not? Thanks.

(Just looked up the ';Keratin'; Wikipedia article, it says silk fibroins are similar to vertebrate keratins, so would silk in nail polish hydrogen bond to nails???)

Bonus points for someone who can explain what the nitrocellulose is for. Only thing I can think of is a guitarist I knew glued bits of ping pong balls to his nails.Proteins in nail hardeners?
It is formaldehyde (or ethyl acetate) that makes the hardening job in nail hardeners (it crosslinks keratin). Nitrocellulose helps to form a thin-film while applying the hardener (it is potentially explosive, by the way)

Silk proteins, soy proteins, milk, honey, avocado extract, gingko leaves, ginseng roots, eucalyptus oil, horsetail root, cucumber, rainforest pollens and tropical hambojambo extracts are simple junk.Proteins in nail hardeners?
    how about i don' know,sorry!
    hhhhhaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy
nail are made of keratin which is a protein... nails can be strenghtened only when these proteins are taken in diet...

nail polishes having protein provide a thicker coat so that the nail doesnt break off easily... once the coat is removed the nail remains the same and is not that it is strengthened....

I dont find any relavance of nitrocellulose with nails...
I think anything that sits on top of your nails and makes them thicker (by being on top of them) will help keep them from breaking..but your nails are dead skin cells, so I cant imagine how you could actually improve them on any kind of cellular level.

Go to Sally's beauty supply and ask them what they would suggest. They get feed back from customers and see the products go in and out the door.

What's the best nail hardener out there?

My nails grow pretty fast %26amp; long. But as soon as they get long, they break or split. Then I have to cut the rest down to match. I've tried Sally Hansen Hard as Nails, but it doesn't help too much. What's the best nail hardener out there?
What I love and also recommend to every person is rejuvacote nail polish. You must put it on everyday until your whole nail grows out again. Keep cutting the nail until you see a difference in the color of the nail.

I am telling you, It is the best studd ever!!! I wish I can send you a picture of my nail. Every one asks if my nails are fake, but they are not, its all because of the nail polish!

Hope you like it as much as I do!

Does putting on a coat of nail hardener on the entire nail weaken the natural nail underneath?

I would think that it would because of the lack of oxygen to the nail. Any ideas?

(it is the Nutra Nail Bullet-Proof Strength with Kevlar)Does putting on a coat of nail hardener on the entire nail weaken the natural nail underneath?
That is a good question now that i think of it.It really doesnt weaken the nail underneath. It actually reapairs the nail.So then it will form and become more hard.Nial hardner is made speical just for nails and will still alow them to recieve oxygen.

Can anyone recommend some hardener for nails?

my nails just started growing really fast and are looking great..I just don't want them to break..I want them to be thick..is there any hardener I can get that will help them? Can anyone recommend some hardener for nails?
Sally Hansen ';Hard as Nail'; available at any drugstore. Can anyone recommend some hardener for nails?
My friend gave me this stuff called OPI. She got it from the lady that does her hair so I assume maybe they only sell it at beauty salons?Anyway it works great and dries super fast too.My nails are super strong now.
I swear by horse products, sounds crazy I know but there is a hoove shine product called tuff stuff for a horses hoof and I get it on my nails when I put it on my horses hooves it shine and protects and my nail do good every time I get it on me, lol.

i thought pico de gallo was what I put on my rotisserie chicken?Has anyone heard of a nail polish (its a hardener) called pico de gallo... it is from columbia? Thanks!?
The cockfight think might be true. The only pico de gallo that I have heard of is relish.
I think you are getting confused. Pico de gallo means ';rooster's beak'; in spanish. It's not something they put ON the beak. It's also a kind of salsa.

Why do my nails hurt and feel like they're burning after i put on nail hardener(after having fake on & off)

I've been getting my nails done for about 2 yrs. I went to the salon to take them off a couple weeks ago. After she took them off she put on nail hardener or healer. When I got home the tips of my fingers were hurting when I picked something up. It feels like the part of the skin under the nail is burning. After a couple minutes it goes away. It happens every time I paint my nails at home since the last time I took them off. What is wrong with my nails/fingers? Will it go away after a while since I already stopped getting my nails done? Why do my nails hurt and feel like they're burning after i put on nail hardener(after having fake on %26amp; off)
I am no expert but I have seen women's nails (real nails) after they have been wearing fake for a long time. They are thin, much thinner than they should be due to lack of oxygen. I would guess the same thing happened to you and the nail hardener and polish is going right through your nail to the skin underneath, which is very sensitive. I would suggest not wearing anything for a month or two to let your nails heal a bit before trying again. Oh and don't use fake nails anymore. Why do my nails hurt and feel like they're burning after i put on nail hardener(after having fake on %26amp; off)
If your nails feels like they are burning it's because you just removed the fake nails. It's that your nail bed is very thin from having the nails removed. As your own nails grow out the will become stronger. Yes the burning feeling will go away..

    I'm a dental assistant & need a nail hardener....?

I am constantly washing my hands and when I'm not washing them I'm wearing gloves that make my hands sweaty. I'm finding that my nails are taking the biggest hit and are breaking more. I would guess it's from the constant wetness. I'm looking for a great nail hardener...the last couple I've used are extremely difficult to take off but can't be left on more than a week because they chip or discolor or they are difficult to get on and look chunky. I'd like something a little easier to work with that really works for the type of work I do with out having to get acrylic or gels from the salon.I'm a dental assistant %26amp; need a nail hardener....?
Stop moisturizing your hands. Let them get really dried-out. Use Dial Soap (plain white). Your nails will take the biggest hit the quickest, then your knuckles. However, if your hands get sweaty in the gloves, it should all even out. Also, in cold weather, don't wear winter gloves. Keep your hands exposed to the elements and the nails will dry out super fast.

I'm a guy, so I don't think much about feminine hand care or stuff like that, but dry nails = hard nails. This is a natural, cheap, and relative hastle-free approach to your dilema. Hope it helps.

I am looking for a GREAT nail hardener but not a nail polish. Similar to acrylic or gels I think?

My coworker recently got a manicure where the manicurist painted on some type of hardner on her nails that made them just as hard as acrylic nails, but was painted on like nail polish and dried on it's own. She says it was a cloudy clear color. Her nails looked shiny like she got one of those shine buffers but they felt hard like she had a coating of some kind on them. She said the lady didn't use a file on her nails and it didn't have to cure under a light or anything. Any ideas as to what the lady put on her nails?I am looking for a GREAT nail hardener but not a nail polish. Similar to acrylic or gels I think?
Maybe it was actually a thin coating of acrylic nail, and she just didn't want to admit it to you. But, if someone else comes up with the answer, I'd also be very interested in knowing the name of the product.I am looking for a GREAT nail hardener but not a nail polish. Similar to acrylic or gels I think?
well in superdrug there is a purple nail hardener which is great i use it all the time and it stops my nails from splitting/breaking, also there is a sally hansen nail hardener which is also very good , about 14 euro.
there is one maid by opi. it's really good it's like 18 dollars. it's called nail envy and it comes in different types. most nail salons use opi.
Try Seche Vite top coat. It's clear (not milky colored), goes on like glass and dries to a very glossy and hard shine in about five minutes. Two coats will look like you had them done professionally, and it will really bring out the color in frosts!

You can find Seche at some Target stores or your local Sally Beauty Supply

I don't know the brand name, but you'll find it in Priceline with the Sally Hansen nail treatments. It's in a box and it has fibreglass in the polish to build up the nail and strengthen it. I haven't tried it but it looks good. It's quite expensive at $14 but one coat is all you need.

I am 22 and now i'm starting to have the same problem again. when ever my nails start to split I end up chewing them off when I don't have a nail file handy. I sugest Sally Hansen clear nail polish. It hadrens as well as whitens your nails. It is not very pricey(bout a a dollar or 2)And it works! Also, include viatamins in your diet,Norish your nails with cuticule cream.Moisterize your nails with with nails mosterizing cream. Also if you dont have any nail mosterizer,Get a skin lotion high in viatamins and mix with a drop of tea tree oil. Then add very little water and stir until thin.Soak your nails in this for five to ten mins.

Nail hardener not as a coat/polisher, is there any?

I'm looking for a nail HARDNER, not cuticle, not growth booster, as an oil or such but I don't want it to leave a coat on my nail.

When you apply polish, water can't come through to your nails. So I don't want the hardener to be so.

Please, 1- provide me keywords to look for in a product as well as 2- brand names.

Oh, 3- I want reasonable prices, like that of the DrugStores' Sally Hansen or such.

Thank you, indeed.Nail hardener not as a coat/polisher, is there any?
To have healthy nails are important to eat healthy too. Many people complaints about their nails are weak. Our body are different. For healthy nails, I would recommend Nailtek Foundation, it very cloudy color and no polish is showing. This is foundation to improve soft nails to be hard, it prevents from nail slitting, and from dryness. Part of healthy is use cuticle oil, it helps your nails and cuticles from dryness and skin peeling.

Nailtek Foundation $10 ( you may find it in nails salon or sally's)

';Nail Magic'; nail hardener makes my fingers ache.?

There is this nail hardener that I buy at Sally's. It's pink and it comes in a box and it's called Nail Magic.

I like it because it makes my nails strong and it makes them grow faster.

But I've noticed that whenever I use it, my fingers kind of burn.

The more I use it, the worse it gets.

I used it quite a few hours ago and my fingers still hurt. So much so that they feel like they are on fire and the ache has gone up to my elbows and into my wrists.

It hurts quite a bit, but the polish it dry.

When I run my hands under cold water, or put them right in front of the AC, the pain subsides, but as soon as that cold wears off, it comes back...

Any ideas as to why it's doing this or how I can make it stop?

(And don't say ';Stop using it'; because I've already decided that I'm going to if there's no other solution...)';Nail Magic'; nail hardener makes my fingers ache.?
OMG the same thing happened to me! I still have it, it comes in a purple box, with gold on it. I liked it for about the first week. Then it started burning my under my nails turned a reddish color... I was horrible..I left it on for another week, but I noticed it was just getting worse and my fingers began to swell, i even stopped being able to sleep! After I couldn't sleep I decided to take it off with nail polish remover and it kept burning for about another week. It hurt all the time, especially if I touched something. I went to my dermatoligist and she said that I had a chemical burn and actually had to prescribe an antibiotic ointment to rub into my nails. They finally healed. From previous use and pain I would say stop using this immediately! I know its great for awhile, but now I'm just using a sally hansen hard as nails and it works just fine too. Go see your local dermatoligist you might need an antibiotic too!';Nail Magic'; nail hardener makes my fingers ache.?
Sounds like your allergice to a chemical in it. Stop using it.

Yeah no problem, hope everything is ok!

So if you ever intend on using I would say do not use any other product on the nails at the time of use. I do this and it seems to be working alright: cutcl-remover %26amp; push back/wash/nail magic 2-3 very thin (not on entire nail- stay away from entire cuticle including sides)/dry 20 min/cuticle oil.

OK if your gonna keep using it and it hurts, just beware, burning pain is a good sign that something is wrong..So I say use it at your own risk. And don't be surprised if something worse than the burning pain happens.

Try rubbing vaseline on your toenails at leaat three time a day, if not possible, at night coat them pretty good and then after about an hour put on white cotton socks. Do this religiously. If per chance you have a toenail fungus, you can rub on Vicks, works wonders for nail fungus.

    Best nail hardener?

i am trying to grow my nails out since i took off my fake ones .what is the best nail hardener and is there something to promote nail growth?Best nail hardener?
I have tried all the nail hardeners out there, especially the expensive ones (like Sally Hansen hard as Diamonds, and ones with garlic in it). These made my nails strong at first, but then the polish started to chip very easily. The only way my nails have EVER grown out FAST (i mean FAST, like 2 weeks they were EXTREMELY long) was getting a manicure. Buffing promotes nail growth since it allows blood or oxygen flow to the nails themselves and plus when you get a manicure they will properly polish your nails. My manicure was only $5, so you don't need a really expensive one to have your nails grow as long as they buff them.Best nail hardener?
Sally Hansen has some great products for that purpose.
I've been wearing Nail Xtras 3 in 1 for the past week and a half and my nails have grown a lot faster than usual. I got it at a place called Superdrug, but there's probably many other good brands as well. Also pushing back the cuticles, trimming them if you wish, seems to help. A few folk have commented on my nails and suggested that I should let my nails grow then have them polished in black as a dare.
You will get amazing results if you will grind flax seed %26amp; take a tablespoon of it in water or juice in the morning and at night. You can pre-grind it and keep in the freezer but only for 72 hours. The oil is unstable. You will not believe the results.
My mom's nails have always been really brittle. She went to Sally's beauty and got something called nail magic. i think it's about 5 dollars but it works so good. I swear by it. I put it on my nails after i clipped them and within a week they were 1/2 centimeter longer. They also got a lot thicker and the polish makes them look really shiny.

    Nail hardener on aluminum?

I was wondering if the stuff that you use to make finger nails harder/protect them would ruin aluminum?

On my bike, the part that holds the handlebars in place is made of aluminum. I wanted to put a sticker on it, and then put the nail hardener on it so it does not come off.

    ThxNail hardener on aluminum?
It won't ruin the aluminum, but it probably won't actually protect anything. Depending on what type of nail hardener you use -- some are just clear polish, others contain vitamins or proteins that interact with your nails.

You should always try something like that first in an out of the way place -- like on the underside in a small spot to see if it sticks, peels, or discolors before going all gung ho.

You might want to look at clear coat touch up paint at your local automotive store. Probably comes in a spray can or small brush bottle. You might also be able to use polyurethane which you can find at a hardware store.

I haven't found any that work except for the Nailtiques brand, formula #2. I'm not sure if this still has formaldehyde in the formula -- if you're trying to avoid this chemical, you will want to check. None of the others I've tried over the years has done anything for me.

Ive typed them in google and nothing comes up.. i cant think of a name close.. Sally Hanson do something similiar, and so does OPI.. and Nails Inc.. try them if u cant remember the name of this one..or why dont u ask in the store where u bought it from and see if they can find it for you.. xx

What is the best nail hardener?

    Sally Hanson Hard As Nails

    :)

    What's a Great Nail Hardener?

I'm looking for something that will give me a thick, hard coat. Thanks :)What's a Great Nail Hardener?
There are several brands on the market. Sally Hanson is one I can think of off hand. The key to great nails is a continuing process, though, not just a product. There is more, but here is a start:

First, put a drop of olive oil on the cuticles every night, and gently massage it in.

Second, put a Base Coat on under your polish. Then apply as many coats of polish as you need, for the look you want.

Third, apply a Top Coat over the polish.

Fourth, put a fresh Top Coat on each evening before you use the olive oil. All of these polishes must be from the same brand, in order for them to work. Or they will just chip off.

Remove your nail polish weekly, even if you are going to put the same color back on. Don't let your polish chip. If it does, then remove the old polish right away, and re-apply it. Don't remove old polish by chipping it with your other nails or a tool. Only remove old polish with polish remover. When polish chips off, some of the fingernail chips off with it, making your nail thinner and more fragile. Use gloves when washing dishes, your nails absorb water, softening them if you don't. Even if you use a nail hardener, your nails will eventually break. That is nature. Good health, and good nutrition are vital to healthy hair and nails, as well. What's a Great Nail Hardener?
I like OPI nail hardener. Although I do agree to use the same product line, I'm just not so sure about the olive oil ritual. Start taking a multi-vitamin, if you're already taking one, use take a vitamin specifically made for hair and nails.
My favourite nail hardener is Mavala Diamond Hard Nails from Sweden. It's hard to find and expensive, but a small bottle lasts a long time. Unlike other hardeners, it doesn't sit on top of your nails, it soaks in and makes the nail hard and strong. You only need to use it twice a week for the first month then once a week after that.
路 Drinking milk is good, as it contains calcium

路 Some people advise to take prenatal vitamins for hair and nail growth

路 Proper diet with green leafy vegetables, nuts, dried fruits and fruits would also help nail growth

路 Massage your nails with olive oil.

With jewlery i heard you put nail hardener on it so it stays nice is that true? if true, how so?

I would not suggest nail hardener, but if you put clear nail polish on fake silver and gold it will keep it from turning your fingers green! It covers the outside so it does not come in contact with your skin. It eventually wears off and you will need to repaint it.

Nail Hardener Polish? Removed Acrylic Nails, Yikes!!!?

I decided to remove my acrylic nails and now they are paper thin, does anyone know of a polish that is extremely hard? Because after years of having something hard on them, they actually hurt, everything that touches them just hurts, like they feel bruised. I need something quick! :)

Thanks in Advance :)Nail Hardener Polish? Removed Acrylic Nails, Yikes!!!?
I used the nail regenerator serum from Talika when I took of my acrylics. It helps harden them and they look better as they grow out.Nail Hardener Polish? Removed Acrylic Nails, Yikes!!!?

  • Nail Hardener For Brittle Nails?

Does anyone know any good, cheap, nail solutions that make your nails harder and not break and be brittle?Nail Hardener For Brittle Nails?
Go to your local Sally BS/Walgreens/Walmart/CVS/Rite-Aid/etc. and pick up any of the many nail hardening/protective nail polishes from Sally Hansen. They are the best.

The cost should run you under $4 bucks!Nail Hardener For Brittle Nails?
Renew-a-Nail works for me but I get it at a factory sell out/discount store for a buck, not sure how much it is regularly or where else you can get it sorry.
Claire's nail ceator hardener only for 5.5$

sally hansen!! works for me.. they are great

Any one used SALLY HANSEN INSTANT NAIL HARDENER how does it work?

I've tried that. I have thin, brittle nails. It really doesn't work.

I've actually found the best way to strengthen nails is to apply vitamin E. Buy the capsules, and, instead of swallowing them, puncture them and apply them on your cuticles. That actually does work! It's not ';instant'; but after a while you will notice the difference. =]Any one used SALLY HANSEN INSTANT NAIL HARDENER how does it work?
I bought it, at the Dollar Store luckily, and was not impressed. Basically it's just plain old nail polish. It chipped off just like everything else and I didn't notice any difference in the hardness of my nails.Any one used SALLY HANSEN INSTANT NAIL HARDENER how does it work?
i do.. it works great!.. my nails r rly hard.... it stayes on and doesnt chip for a very long time.... and somehow.. i think its making my nails grow faster.. but maybe its just my nail.. but u should rly try it
i have it. it doesnt work that much. i mean, it might work over time.
I love it, my nails are so weak and they split rarely now i use SH, not sure how it works though. It most certainly doesn't last a week on me though, but normal polish doesn't last a day for me, so its an improvement.
it works very good. although I apply it often, about once a day!
yup i have it.. you just put a coat on ur nails.. and leave it for a week or so i guess.. its really good cuz my nails are really really really weak, but after i started using it, there was change :D hehe u should use it its really good it actually works! xx

oh and btw.. if you want something thats better than that.. theres a transparent one like the SH one.. but its ';jessica'; u should try that if you can find it.. it works faster and the coat is thicker
it works perfect. i already have naturally hard nails but my mom uses a little more than me. plus they have great colors

    Dr lewinns revitanail nail hardener?

Has anybody ever used revitanail? What did you think of it? Any other tips for hardening nails would be greatly appreciated...

    Thanks!Dr lewinns revitanail nail hardener?
Takes too long to dry. Try Sally Hansen's Maximum Nail Growth or try this, colourless iodine obtained from any pharmacy, very cheap, not over $4 a bottle, paint on your nails, everytime you put your hand in water, reapply the iodine. Once you notice your nails are changing to a yellow colour, stop for a couple of days then reapply. This does work and was given to me by a Gay friend of my who works in a pharmacy for over 15 years. His nails are amazing in length and strength.

Tried both and they work, my nails are so hard and long that although I'm renovating my bathroom (knocking walls out, waterproofing, etc.). I have not broken or lost a fingernail. Good luck!!!!Dr lewinns revitanail nail hardener?
I've used revitanail for a couple of years and it is probably one of the better nail hardeners I've used. Don't bother with the one coat every day for three days then remove and start again. I just put one or two coats on and it stays on until I think they need redoing. I've even got my mum using it and for the first time she has nails that are a decent length
I liked it but it takes a while to dry and is quite strong in smell.

Clarins hand cream is excellent for your nails. If I use it regularly my nails grow fast and strong. (and it makes your hands soft!!)

I use olive oil on my nails. I use organic products on my body and face. Thus, It makes them look healthier and harder. :) But you should have to deal with the smell though. A little small amount will do the trick. But if you want a good smelling product, try purchasing Nail Hardener products (most beauty brands have them). Good luck deary!:)
    OPI Natural Nail Strengthener
    Sally Hansen
umm... a tie between an un named organic brand and maybelline

Can i use normal OPI nailpolish instead of a nail hardener??

Ive just spent 20mins soaking my nails to get the gel nails off and was wondering if i could use normal OPI nailpolish as a hardener instead of buying nail hardener because normal nail polish would still harden you nails rightCan i use normal OPI nailpolish instead of a nail hardener??
OPI would coat the nail and sit on top where as hardner will soak in to strengthen the nail. They both do the same job in different ways.

The diamond strength one is better, the other one peels.
Don't care for Teflon Tuff - it just peels off my nails.

Check to make sure Diamond strength doesn't have toluene or formaldehyde which dry out the nails.
Neither! Ive tried both with no luck. I now use OPI and its FAB! Cant praise it enough :D xx
I've been using the hardener for a week and haven't seen any difference.
diamonds are harder than finger nails
Diamond, for sure! It's just great.

sally Hanson, Advanced Hard as Nails with nylon and retinol worked for me. Sometimes I put it on twice a day, and wear gloves (the disposable latex ones) anytime my hands are in water (well, except to shower 8~)) A good hand lotion helps too.
    prenatal vitamins
take prenatal vitamins, it works and you can buy them over the counter at wal mart. bout 6 bux for 90 pills.
I go the the nail salon. I ask them to fill my natural nails. I have long origional nails and they are mine, they just have an acylic overlay. (It also costs applying an overlay over your nails every week, get ready to pay)
    Keratin and protein.
    Try Knox Gelatin
Actually I had the same problem a couple of years ago. What I did was I put acrylic nails on even though some people think it makes your nails softer. It depends on your body(nails) I left them on for a while. Then when my nails grow out to the acrylic, then i remove the fake nails, and have my own nails acrylic, its better then the regular hardener.

i also used the fourth one down from this page http://www.nutranail.com/growth-products鈥?/a>

this is gonna sound crazy, but GARLIC. if you put garlic in a processer, lots, and then kepp you nail in for about a minute, it later gets harder, quite good actually! But if you go to boots, they have a box, with a liquid that soaks off any excess nails, which is ablut 拢2.50. That's use full, hope it helps xxx
Mavala is great. But I'd advise you to leave them alone and let them recover for at least a few weeks. False nails are so, so bad for the natural nails.
Sally Hansen does a hardener called Diamond Strength.

I use it and i love it! It also contains an ingredient that helps them grow, its very good!

    Hope it helps,

1)Use cuticle oil every day, even a little sweet almond oil or rice bran oil massaged into your nails twice a day will improve the overall health of your nails %26amp; make them stronger.

    2) File them, it actually helps nails grow longer %26amp; stronger. I'm not talking about mad filing every day. Just a gentle filing once a week will keep your nails looking good.

What I usually do is put clear, extra strong glue on both the inside as well as the top of the nail. This helps by making it strong and sturdy and prevents it from breaking/chipping. Your nails will last you much longer.
im not sure whats its called. but i asked my dr.and he gave me a prescription to make my nails stronger.

Your nails are benefited the most by the foods you eat. The best is protein and if needed drink KNOX gelatin added to OJ or some drink. A teaspoon added. at a time will enhance the strength of your nails. We are what we eat. Sugars and sodas weaken the nails. Coke is especially detrimental. The substance in sodas can dissolve a metal nail . It weakens tissue found in our nails.
Acrylics ruin nails but a natural way is to drink lots of milk and take zinc vitamin suppliments. Look in stores like boots or superdrugs and look for a nail polish that is clear in colour that is designed to stop nail breakage.
Sally Hanson is the answer! It's a great nail hardener. Also I heard that Jello is a good thing to eat every day to keep nails strong. I think it's the gelatin in it that works the magic.

Any way to harden nails w/o using nail hardener?

My nails are very flexible b/c I have to wear gloves all day at my job. Even before that they were quite bendy. Are there supplements or specific vitamins I can take to make them stronger?Any way to harden nails w/o using nail hardener?
Calcium, prenatal vitamins, and buff them. Buffing stimulates growth and will help them grow faster and thicker. Don't over do it if they are thin. Just get a super soft buffer and rub them down once a week. You'll see a difference in no time.Any way to harden nails w/o using nail hardener?
Yes there is..Take a calcium, magnesium, zinc vitamin.Make sure you take either all three or you can get it with all three in one pill. You need all three for calcium to work right.Calcium,1,000 mgs. Magensium 400 mg and zinc 25 mgs. Plus eat more broccoli, milk, cheese, and cottage cheese. It has calcium in it.To protect them useing a nail hardener is also good to do.Oh ya vit.D 400 mgs too...I forgot that one...
Take Calcium, drink a lot of milk and get extra iron in your diet...(Raisins have iron, and brocoli uncooked)
    Take prenatel vitamins.
    pee on your fingers daily.
well i bite my nails so i dont really care sissy
    Calcium.
    GARLIC
    eat gelatin.
Try eating more Jello or any products that contain gelatin..such as Gummi Bears, Gummi Worms, etc..

Gelatin also is good for your hair

    Be Blessed %26lt;%26gt;%26lt;
Calcium, there's calcium in milk, or you can take a calcium supplement.
Take a calcium supplement. You can get them over the counter.
Calcium will strengthen your nails there are also other great benefits to taking calcium. Viactive soft chews are a great way to get calcium.
Eat lots of calcium - dairy products like milk and cheese contain loads. Its good for your teeth, bones and nails! So is vitamin B5. Most multi vitamins contain these things, but there is also specific female multivitamins that contain ingredients to make you more beautiful - or so they claim! Olay does one.
There is a product called ';Hoof Maker'; it is for horse's hooves. It's a cream that you rub on. It makes them really strong. You usually can only find it in the big containers so ask friends if they want to go in on it with you. It's not expensive, there is just more that you will EVER use! Be careful you don't use TOO much or they won't bend at all and snap off instead. Once a week should do it.

You can find hoof maker at feed stores, some drug stores and some Walmarts, depending on where you are.
Take calcium supplements but make sure there is vitamin D in them because that helps the body absorb calcium better. I've also had numerous friends who have had kids tell me to take prenatal vitamins to help w/ hair, skin %26amp; nails. They don't harm you if you are NOT pregnant because they're just vitamins that definitely have everything in them that's good for women. Another thing I've been told is to eat a lot of Jell-O (sugar-free of course) because the gelatin is supposed to be good too.
    milk sock them

What's the best nail hardener out there?

My nails are so soft! I can bend them and often find that I've chipped or broken them by doing the simplest of things.

I have tried Sally Hansen's ';Hard as Nails';. However it kept chipping and after 5 days I could peel it off. I've also an Avon product and that didn't seem to work. What's the best nail hardener out there?
One of the RN's I work with uses ridge filler and she claims it's made her nails hard. What's the best nail hardener out there?
try concrete, should make them pretty hard!
milk and milk products. your diet lacks calcium and nutrients
Oh my. As a nail tech, I have to disagree that buffing your nails will make them harder. If you're trying to make your nail harder, you have to either use a hardener from the outside, or increase your nutrient intake from the inside.

In my experience, the best nail hardener out there is OPI Nail Envy. It's sold in nail salons. Follow the directions that are included in the box.

I do recommend too to keep your nails filed back to a short length while you're working on making them harder. When you're filing, make sure you file from the edge of the nail to the middle - on the left side of the nail, go left to right - on the right side of the nail, go right to left. Going with the natural grain of the nail will keep the layers of your nail plate stuck together instead of pulled apart.

In the best case scenario, a nail hardener will only make the nail that's already grown out harder - if you're wanting to make your body grow harder nails, you've got to start with your vitamin and mineral intake. Take a look at your diet and see if there are any obvious gaps. Your body knows that nail growth is not essential to life, so if you're not healthy, nails will be one of the first things to go.
Go to your local beauty supply stores and see what they reccomend. I did, and they all reccomended a product called ';rock';. It works pretty good.

You should also get a nail buffer. When you first start using it, it will make your nails a bit thinner, but after a while it will make them stronger. Also, for a nail hardener to work, generally you need to reapply every few days. If it does just peel right off, you probably had oil on your nails. Be sure to use a nail polish remover, or alcohol on your nails before you apply the polish.

There are vitamin products out there that claim to make your nails stronger. Those are NOT regulated by the FDA, and the companies really don't need a lot to back up there claims. So many of them don't work like they say. Upping your calcium intake will help though. If your not much of a milk drinker, try getting like juices with extra calcium. Also, be sure to eat lots of veggies. Besides helping your nails, it will help your overall health and well being.

I've never used a base or top coat. Recently I've been told it is important. I don't have either of them, but I do have a nail hardener by sinful colors. Can a nail hardener count as a base coat?
It is important to always wear a base coat as a dark polish can discolour your nails and make them go yellow. A nail hardener could be used as it is still providing a protective barrier between the nail and the polish :-)Can a nail hardener count as a base coat?
I use Sally Hansen's nail hardener as my base coat and it works great for me. I think it all depends on how picky you are...I use 2 coats of nail hardener as a base coat, then nail polish and OPI's top coat and it looks great!
barry m have a base coat top coat and nail hardener all in one =) and at the moment they are doing any two nailvarnish (barry m) for a fiver ! =)

Soak your nails for 15-20 min. in acetone nail polish remover. That should do the trick. Don't take such long showers to keep it from coming off. And how do you manage to take an hour long shower every day. Your water bill must be something else. It takes me about 10 min to shower. It is so drying for your skin and hair to be in the hot water so long. Goodness. Hope that helps. I'm sure your shower time will decrease as you age. Once you have kids, which I know you don't, because no mother has an hour to shower every day, your time to yourself will be minimal. You will be lucky to even get in the shower at all.How do you remove Nail hardener with nail polish remover?
i have 3 sisters they either use alcohole or proxside

Why does my nail hardener leave a rough and not smooth finishing look?

I purchased a clear, glossy bottle of nail strengthener. I like the clean, glossy look, but lately can't seem to get my nails to dry smooth. They look rough...or coarse. Why does my nail hardener leave a rough and not smooth finishing look?
I've noticed this when I paint my nails with my mom's polishes too and since she's a manicurist, she said that it was because the polish is either too thick, old, or because of the weather. if it's too thick, you have to buy some thinner at the beauty supply store. it's a really big bottle for cheap prices (like 5 dollars). you can also use it for a long time. just put it in the polish and shake or roll it around. if it's too old, the thinner might work, but your best bet is to throw it away and get another. nail polishes expire after 2 years. if the polish isn't thick, it's the weather. if it's too hot, it might cause the nail polish to dry before you can put it on you nails, so that's why it's like that. it can also be that you dried your nails with a fan. i know that it's instinct to dry your nails with a fan, but in hot weather, just air dry. and stay in a cool place while drying. it may also be because of the application process. when you apply any kind of nail polish, don't take a lot on the brush. just take enough for one stroke. Why does my nail hardener leave a rough and not smooth finishing look?
Your nail strengthener might have been exposed to too much air, or might have aged a little (make up and nail polish does 'go bad'). Even if it's new, it could have been sitting on the shelves for months. Try adding a few drops of nail polish remover to the bottle and shaking it a few times. If it's still going on in globs or all rough, it might be time to get a new bottle.
i am going to be very honest with you ok i just finished going to school to do esthetics and depending on where you got it from it is most likely not doing anything for your nails buy drying them out And that is why your nails look Rough and coarse . Now if you got it from a drugstore then chances are it is no good and if you got it from a salon then it may actually work try going to a salon near you and asking for something called a nail conditioner they really really help .

This is definitely not a good answer, it does not remove the nail polish! Neither does Mr. Clean eraser (Must have been written by Mr. Clean Mfgs.)

The mineral spirits, or nail polish remover will take the finish up from your new floors.

The best bet, since it is clear, is to just let it wear off with time.

If it really bothers you, use some non acetone nail polish remover, and a q-tip. Just rub the nail polish very gently until just that spot is gone. You might cause a more noticeable spot is my only worry.

How often should i use nail hardener to help my nails grow stronger and faster?

a few days ago i bought sallys nail hardener and each day i put a another coat on. my nails r really shiny and feel great. should i keep adding another coat of polish everyday to help strengthen my nails? How often should i use nail hardener to help my nails grow stronger and faster?
You can apply a nail hardener every now and then but avoid products that have harsh chemical such as toluene sulfonamide or formaldehyde as they can easily irritate your skin. You can also make your nails stronger by letting your nail remain short, square shaped and slightly rounded on top. Trim brittle nails just after a bath or a 15 minute soak in bath oil then apply a moisturizer. Moisturize your nails and cuticles just before you go to bed and keep them covered with cotton gloves. How often should i use nail hardener to help my nails grow stronger and faster?
yes, it's an everyday use kind of thing (:

i personally use it almost every night/ afternoon, it makes the process a whole lot faster!

Is there something other than nail hardener to put on my nails so they dont break easy?

Ive always had strong long nails. They grow very fast. I am going to school soon for auto mechanics and i am looking for something to put on my nails. I have worked on cars for a few years now and amazingly i can work without them breaking often, but some do. Its usually the same ones. I am planning on cutting them halfway because honestly they are too long to begin with, but i thought maybe there was some kind of gel or something that i could get put on. Ive used nail hardeners and honestly ive had no differance. My problem is i need something that wont discolor much from the oils and stuff and also that doesnt chip off much like polish. Cause thats what happens usually and it doesnt look pretty and i dont like using nail polish remover when i can help it.Is there something other than nail hardener to put on my nails so they dont break easy?
My mom used to use this stuff to make her nails strong because she has very brittle nails. You just massage it into your nails and it works great! It was originally used to treat horses hooves, but the people who applied it realized their nails were so strong from using it consistently, so they made it into a product for humans. It really does work!

I'm honestly not sure where to get it, but you might be able to find it at your local drugstore. If not, try this website: http://www.barielle.com/barielle/control鈥?/a>Is there something other than nail hardener to put on my nails so they dont break easy?
If anyone looks this question up, and has similar trouble try a layer of IBD gel on the natural nail. You'll need a UV light, about $40 and the gel and light are at Sally's Beauty Supply. It's clear, won't harm the nail bed, and protects and strengthens better than any polish/hardner.

try ,using a clear fingernail brush, put it in fingernail polish remover to get the polish off, then carefully paint your fingernails with crazy glue
try OPI nail envy. That stuff is like gold!! I have always had weak thin nails, and tried everything everywhere but this stuff makes my nails so strong!! Almost as strong as those fake nails. My nails don't tear chip or break.
Use pure Shea Butter. It is a natural nail strengthener (and generally great for skin etc.) but rubbing it into the nails will help themnot only be stronger but also prevent flaking and peeling of layelrs of the nails that cause breakage. I swear by it, and I have to cut my nails because they get so long, but I break a nail so rarely the last time I broke one and had to cut them all, my BANK TELLER noticed. Of all people. :)
hmm..not really. maybe use like 2 coats? i like to use hard as nails.
I've always had a problem with my nails breaking at work, I found this stuff it's called Nail Experts length %26amp; strength from AVON it works really good, and it was a decent price.

What is a really good nail hardener or any other way to make nails stronger?

I have very weak nails and I keep having to cut them super short because they break every time they grow over the finger. Does anyone know a really good nail hardener that actually works or anything else I can try to make my nails stronger? What is a really good nail hardener or any other way to make nails stronger?
The best product I know of on the market is Nailtiques. I've seen women grow strong, beautiful nails with it.What is a really good nail hardener or any other way to make nails stronger?
Start taking B12 vitamins (great for hair and nails), and apply Sally Hansen's ';Hard As Nails'; nailpolish to your nails as they grow. Make sure to file them as they grow as well.

Also, make sure to get your blood taken. Anemia is a condition in which a person has iron poor blood and physical symptoms are weak nails, peeling nail beds, and feeling cold often.

    Good Luck.

    Nail Hardener??

My mom says her cuticles are ruined because she used nail hardener when she was a teen. Can nail hardener really ruin your cuticles????Nail Hardener??
Anything like nail polish or nail hardener can dry out your nails and cuticles. Dried out cuticles are more prone to hangnails. Dried out nails are more prone to chipping and breaking. The drier the cuticle, the more of the energy of the nail bed goes towards cuticle repair instead of nail growth. Nail hardener can look effective in the short term, but can be hard on the nails in the long term.
